In this paper the essential extensions of Photometric Stereo method have been presented, embedded
within the context of multi-image approach to visual inspection of very textured surfaces.
Main aim of investigations has been connected with evaluation of stereometric parameters in
abrasive tool active surface in automated technological systems. Nowadays automated systems are
very often applied to machining of tiny elements. made of advanced ceramics. Among input factors,
influencing course and results of the process, there are particularly important stereometric
parameters of abrasive tool surfaces, which control degree of usage potential for the tool. The
presented methodology allows to realize constant supervising of cutting properties in abrasive
tools. According to the methodology, this supervising is realized between working cycles, directly
on grinder, without the need of grinding wheel dismantling.
